The Goldco information kit is a free educational packet — per third-party accounts, it covers IRS-eligible products, the custodian and depository structure, the rollover process, and a fee preview, followed by a call from a Goldco representative. Goldco’s minimum is reported at $25,000 (unverified). We have not reviewed the current packet firsthand; treat reported contents and fees as claims to confirm in writing.
One honesty note before anything else: unlike our Inside the Augusta Kit, where we have the current documents in hand, this page is assembled from third-party accounts of Goldco’s kit. Everything below is labeled accordingly, and where a figure matters, the instruction is the same every time: get Goldco’s current version in writing.
What the kit reportedly contains
Accounts of the packet describe three blocks:
- An eligible-products overview. Which coins and bars qualify for an IRA, including the American Gold Eagle (permitted by a specific statutory carve-out despite its 91.67% purity) and the American Silver Eagle, plus the usual exclusions such as pre-1933 collectibles and Krugerrands. The law behind those rules is on our IRA-Eligible Gold page.
- The three-role structure. Dealer sells, custodian holds title, depository holds metal. Identical at every company because federal law requires it.
- A fee preview and rollover walkthrough. The trustee-to-trustee transfer process, reportedly closing in two to three weeks end to end. The generic mechanics are in 401(k) to Gold IRA Rollover.

Every figure here is reported by third-party reviews, not confirmed with Goldco.
That last row is the important one. Multiple accounts note that Goldco does not post coin pricing or complete fees publicly. Plenty of dealers operate this way, and it isn’t itself a red flag, but it moves the burden onto you: the spread you pay is set in a conversation, and conversations favor the side that has them all day. Get numbers on paper before agreeing to anything.
The promotion math
Goldco’s signature offer is bonus silver, and unlike the fees, the terms are published: per Goldco’s own site (2026-07), 5% back in free silver on purchases of $50,000–$99,999 in Goldco premium coins, 10% at $100,000 and up. Two things follow. The advertised “up to 10%” needs a six-figure purchase, and no bonus exists below $50,000 — double the reported account minimum, so a minimum-sized account gets nothing. Then run the arithmetic before celebrating: promotional metal is normally financed inside the spread on the rest of the order, so the test is one question asked twice — what is my spread with the promotion, and without it? If the answers are the same, the silver was free. They are rarely the same.
The buyback claim
Reports describe Goldco’s buyback program as among the stronger ones, with repurchase at fair market value. “Fair market value” is doing a lot of work in that sentence. The version that protects you is written: does the company commit to repurchase, and at what pricing relative to spot? Vague buyback language now predicts vague buyback pricing later.
Where Goldco sits in your comparison
Goldco’s reported $25,000 minimum makes it the anchor of the mid-tier, between the $10,000 operators and Augusta’s verified $50,000 floor. If that’s your bracket, request its kit alongside one competitor’s and read them against each other; the method is in Which Kit for Your Rollover Size?, and our full company assessment is at Goldco Review.
