Inside the Augusta Information Kit: What You Actually Receive

Quick answer

The Augusta Precious Metals kit currently includes a corporate brochure, a “Why Choose Augusta” information sheet, a gold and silver IRA guide, a broader investing guide, and a buyer-protection checklist, plus an invitation to a free one-on-one web conference. The kit is free with no purchase obligation; Augusta’s verified minimum to actually open an account is $50,000.

Most write-ups of Augusta’s free kit describe it from the outside. We have the current documents in hand, so this page can do something more useful: go through them one at a time and tell you what each is for, where the sales pressure does and doesn’t appear, and which numbers still need checking when your copy arrives.

The documents in the packet

Five pieces, in print and PDF form, plus the web conference invitation.

  1. A corporate brochure. Company history (founded 2012, headquartered in Casper, Wyoming, CEO Isaac Nuriani), the people involved, and the service model. Standard company literature. Read it for who you’d be dealing with, not for investment analysis.

  2. A “Why Choose Augusta” information sheet. The pitch document. It carries the ratings Augusta likes to show (BBB A+, Business Consumer Alliance AAA, TrustLink 5/5, as printed in the kit; check each platform yourself for current standing) and the three claims the company leans on: salaried agents rather than commissioned ones, no giveaway promotions, and an education step before any sale.

  3. A gold and silver IRA guide. The substantive one. It walks through the self-directed IRA structure, the custodian and depository roles, and which products qualify. Examples listed include the American Gold Eagle and American Silver Eagle (1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz). Cross-check anything here against the actual statute; our IRA-Eligible Gold page cites it directly.

  4. A guide to investing in gold and silver generally. The macro case: inflation, currency risk, crisis demand. This is where you should read most skeptically. The arguments aren’t wrong so much as one-sided, which is true of every dealer’s macro material. Nobody selling metal writes the bear case.

  5. A buyer-protection checklist. The most unusual item in the packet. Augusta’s own guide tells you to interrogate any dealer, Augusta included, on the spread you’ll pay, “free silver” offers, whether agents earn commission, buyback terms, review history, and paid celebrity endorsements. It reads like our own Gold IRA Red Flags page, published by a dealer. Teaching skepticism is Augusta’s marketing strategy, and it happens to produce genuinely useful material.

The web conference

The invitation points to a one-on-one session of roughly an hour, run by the team of Devlyn Steele (Harvard Business School analytics program; leads 1-on-1 web conferences). It covers the economy, the IRA mechanics, and pricing. Two things to know before booking. First, this is where fee specifics get presented, so bring the five questions from our Is a Free Gold IRA Kit Legit? guide and ask for everything in writing. Second, third-party reviews report the full one-on-one is reserved for savers with about $100,000 or more; we haven’t verified that cutoff, so ask when you schedule.

The numbers, with their status

Item Figure
Minimum investment $50,000 ✓
Setup fee $50 one-time
Annual custodian fee $125 (some reviews say $150)
Annual storage fee $100
Custodian / depository Equity Trust Company / Delaware Depository

Only the minimum (✓) is confirmed in Augusta’s own materials. The rest are reported by third-party reviews and unconfirmed.

That custodian-fee row deserves a sentence. One widely read review lists the annual custodian fee at $125. Another page on the same site says $150. Both cannot be right, and neither cites Augusta directly. This is why our standing advice is boring: the only fee schedule that counts is the current one, from Augusta, in writing.

If the reported figures hold, the recurring cost lands around $225 a year. On a $50,000 account that’s roughly 0.45% annually before the dealer spread, which is the larger and less visible cost. Ask for the spread per product.

Who should bother requesting it

The kit costs nothing and obligates nothing, so the real cost is handing over your phone number. Worth it if you hold $50,000 or more in an IRA, 401(k), or similar account and want the education before a conversation. Below the minimum, request a kit from an operator in your tier instead; see Which Kit for Your Rollover Size?.

Frequently asked questions

What documents come in the Augusta information kit?

The current packet includes a corporate brochure, a ‘Why Choose Augusta’ information sheet, a gold and silver IRA guide covering account mechanics and IRS-eligible products, a broader guide to investing in gold and silver, and a buyer-protection checklist Augusta calls its confidence guide. An invitation to a one-on-one web conference comes with it.

Is the Augusta web conference free, and is there an obligation?

The conference is free and carries no purchase obligation. Third-party reviews report that the full one-on-one format is reserved for people with roughly $100,000 or more in retirement savings; we have not verified that threshold with Augusta, so ask when you book.

What is Augusta's minimum investment?

$50,000, stated in Augusta’s own investment-profile materials, with no maximum. Below that figure the kit is still free to read, but Augusta will not open your account.

Does the kit include a fee schedule?

It previews fee structure. Third-party reviews commonly report a $50 setup fee, an annual custodian fee of $125 (one review says $150, and the disagreement is instructive), and $100 annual storage. We haven’t confirmed those numbers on an official source, so treat them as reported and get the current schedule from Augusta in writing.
